Hawkinge retirement village – phase 1 completion

Set on top of the North Downs, Hawkinge offers stunning views above nearby Folkestone to the English Channel and French coastline. Located on the former RAF Hawkinge airfield, the site played an important role during WWII defending the skies above Kent and now provides a peaceful and beautiful location for “Later Living”.

This vantage point creates stunning views towards the northern coastline of France, which coupled with the development being set within the Kent Downs AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), provides a wonderful environment for new residents.

The Pentland Homes model for Terlingham Gardens includes tailored care and support packages, allowing residents to lead independent lives in a safe environment. The development will include a series of bungalows, apartments and a central hub building comprising a wellbeing centre, café, restaurants and cinema.

The external design by Deacon Design comprises private terrace gardens, communal gardens, a central green park for recreational activities, a walled kitchen garden and a trim trail through wildflower meadows.

The site forms part of a wider extension to the Hawkinge settlement also being delivered by Pentland Homes which together will deliver new housing, care home, local centre, offices and restaurants.

Working alongside Clague Architects we are pleased to see this first phase of the retirement village nearing completion, with our attentions now turned towards the next phase of development.
